TEETH WHITENING
Tooth whitening (or bleaching) is a simple, non-invasive dental treatment used to change the color of natural tooth enamel and is an ideal way to enhance the beauty of your smile.
Because having whiter teeth has now become the number one esthetic concern of most patients, there are a number of ways to whiten teeth. The most popular method is using a home tooth whitening system that will whiten teeth dramatically. Since tooth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the newly bleached teeth.
Tooth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up may be needed every year or two, and more often if you smoke, drink coffee, tea, or wine routinely.
It is normal to experience tooth sensitivity during the time you are whitening your teeth, but it will subside shortly after you have stopped bleaching.

WHITENING OF TEETH DISCOLOURED AFTER ROOT CANAL TREATEMENT
Teeth whitening can be carried out on a single dead tooth. A dead tooth which has been root canal treated well and is discoloured should usually be treated first with whitening to reduce the discoloration. Teeth whitening is the most conservative treatment for a discoloured tooth and we always try the least invasive treatment at BRILLIANT DENT Aesthetic Dental Studio.
If the discoloration is still visible we would then attempt inside/outside bleaching to reduce the deeper internal discoloration of the tooth. Most of the time this is sufficient however if the discoloration is still noticeable we will then start restorative treatment which can be less conservative.
Restorative options you have include composite/porcelain veneers and crowns. Porcelain veneers and crowns will restore your tooth to a natural appearance which you will be happy with.
